Pitch W2
What is the problem you are solving?
Suppliers are causing huge disruptions in the supply chain.
Look at this phone. It is build with hundreds of components coming from very diverse suppliers. One of our contact told us that often one very small and cheap component that is arriving late can stop the entire production and make the company loose lot of money.
For most companies, there is actually no visibility on the status of the supply orders on-hand and the risk associated to those. Companies are mostly fire-fighting when problems occur and don't act to prevent those.
How did you validate this problem?
We are currently precising and validating our problem.
Firstly we read many Market studies and extracted many business figures(see ⛏Business Figures) that proves that there is a global need for more visibility and reactivity in the Supply Chain.
Secondly we started having several interviews with many supply chain experts and potential client that shared with us their problems. Those problems were very diverse and impact different part of the supply chain.
However, during the week, we refined our problem to focus on something specific , we narrowed our customer segmentation and changed our questions template accordingly. From yesterday, we are targeting people working in manufactures and dealing with supplier disruptions so we can validate fast our hypothesis.
Hussle factor ?
We sent more than a hundred fifty messages through Linkedin and proceeded 11 calls in one week that last in average 30minutes with different experts in the supply chain. We tried every time to get even more contacts from every call. We've posted a message that had been viewed more than 1500 times on Linkedin (My ex boss answered and we are having a call with his wife as she is working in supply chain). We used global EF slack channel to contact with EF alumni.
What is your solution?
To solve this problem, we are building a platform that is improving collaboration and visibility in between suppliers and their customers. We are tracking in real-time the status of the orders at suppliers. The solution automatically analyzes the data available (internal or external) in order to evaluate the likelihood of an order not being delivered on time in full. We can then estimate the consequences of the order not being delivered.
Basically, our solution allows to prevent the fire before it even begins.
Why are you the best team to solve this problem?
We think we can build the right company to tackle those problem and we have the right team to build this solution. Karim is a machine learning engineer, expert in dealing with big datasets and using ML in production and myself, I have seven years of experience in the supply chain software industry at various vendors and positions. And we think together we can make suppliers more reliable.
